I was born in Athens in 1978. While an undergraduate student, I was also working in the informatics industry for several years, specializing in the domain of Medical Informatics. I graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Department of Informatics and Telecommunications in 2005, having focused my research interests in the domain of AI.
Then I joined the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering at the University of Aegean, where I completed my PhD on Automatic Summarization. My research was conducted within the Software and Knowledge Engineering Laboratory of NCSR Demokritos, in collaboration with the University of Aegean.
From June 2010-June 2011 I was a Research Fellow for the DISI, University of Trento, working for the OKKAM project on `Self-administering Lifecycle Management' of Information.
I am currently working as a Research Fellow for the Software and Knowledge Engineering Lab at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR Demokritos in Athens, Greece.
In April 2012 I co-founded (with Vasilis Salapatas) SciFY, which brings Artificial Intelligence applications and systems to the public as open systems (open source, open hardware), for free.
I am a member of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society and the European Chapter of the ACL (EACL).
